Many filter housings are equipped with 'differential pressure gauges'. Usually, these differential pressure gauges are indicators and cannot be used as accurate pressure gauges, and there are no calibration requirements. The indication area of a representative differential pressure gauge consists of two colors: green and red. When the pointer is in the green area, it indicates that the filter element does not need to be replaced. The differential pressure gauge is neither a service indicator for the filter nor an indicator of air quality. It only roughly displays the differential pressure and indicates whether the filter element is clogged in advance. Due to the gradual brittleness of the filter fibers in the filter element during use, even a small hole can cause the filter medium to break, causing pollutants to enter the downstream compressed air system without filtration. If this phenomenon really occurs, due to the small pressure difference before and after the filter, the pointer on the pressure gauge will always be in the green area, and the filter element will not be replaced in a timely manner until the user discovers pollutants downstream. After this situation occurs, even if the filter element is replaced, there will still be pollutants present in the downstream pipeline for a considerable period of time.
